Gregarious, medium size, deciduous tree up to 8-10 m tall; trunk with slender, terete branches; bark thin, grey or pale brown, streaked with red; leaves 3-foliolate, up to 10-15 cm long, rigidly coriaceous, leaflets stipellate, glabrous above, finely pubescent below, entire or obscurely crenate, terminal leaflet broadly elliptic-obovate, obtuse, laterals opposite, smaller, obliquely ovate, base cordate, apex pointed; petioles up to 6-7 cm long, petiolules very short; inflorescence short, fascicled racemes from nodes of older, woody branches; pedicels filiform, glabrous or downy; bracts scaly; calyx campanulate, teeth small, obtuse, upper-2 subconnate, lower ones longer than laterals; corolla whitish-pink or rose red, exerted, standard orbicular, wings slightly spured, connate to obtuse keel; stamens diadelphous (9+1), anther uniform; ovary sessile, linear, glabrous many ovuled, style filiform, incurved. |
