Trailing, slender, perennial, succulent herb; stem glabrous, much branched; petioles and leaves variable, opposite in unequal pairs; inflorescence axillary, umbellate cyme; flowers minute, in pairs; flower buds pear shaped, corymbiform, subapically corniculate; perianth lobes-4, rarely-3, connate into a cupular; stamens 4, inflaxed in bud; pistallode conic or oblong, anthers often red; female flowers; subsessile, perianth lobes-3, minute, unequal, persistent; ovary straight, oblong, stigma sessile, penicillate; achenes ellipsoid, compressed; seed erect, with scanty albumen. |
