Diagnostic characters:
Body slender with a long tail; Snout rather acute, tympanum present, hind limbs well developed without 5 toe; scales keeled, femoral pores absent; tail long and slender. Dorsum light/dark brown; black edged, diamond shaped marks mouth lining dark blue; belly cream; males have bluish gular pouch during breeding season. SVL: 100mm
Habit and Habitat:
Diurnal and terrestrial and prefers rocky terrain, scrub jungles and sandy areas. Very fast and agile.
Diet:
It feeds on insects, termites, beetles and bugs
Legal Protection:
WL (P) A, 1972- None.
Conservation status and Threats:
Least Concern. Uncommon. Loss of habitat.
Distribution:Madhya Pradesh: Balaghat, Dindori, Jabalpur, Seoni, Pachmari (PBR), Sagar (NDWS) and Indore (RWS). Elsewhere in India: Throughout except at heavy rainfall areas. Elsewhere outside: Sri Lanka and Nepal
