Diagnostic characters:
Body stout; cylindrical, covered with small; granular scales; scales on belly overlapping; tail short; tapering; dorsum with 5 pairs of large dark-brown spots, in addition 2-3 pairs of head; tail with 11 dark-brown bands. SVL: 50mm.
Habit and Habitat:
Inhabits deciduous and scrub forests. Crepuscular, hiding under rocks during the day and emerging at dusk.
Diet:
Feeds on insects and termites.
Legal Protection:
WL (P) A, 1972- None.
Conservation status and Threats:
Not accessed. Uncommon. No serious threats observed.
Distribution:Madhya Pradesh: Balaghat, Mandla (KTR )&  Indore (RWS). Elsewhere India: Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu
