Body short and thick; scales of head and tail strongly keeled; eye small with vertical pupil; tail very short. Dorsum variable; reddish-brown; yellowish-white, dark-brown or black with irregular dark brown, black-edged blotches; under part yellowish-white. SVL: 1000mm. |

Mainly nocturnal. Found below rocks, rat holes and termites mounds. |
Diet: |
Feeds on insects, lizards, snakes, birds and rodents. |
