Diagnostic characters:

Body stout and long with smooth scales; outer edges of belly scales rounded; head elongate; tapers towards front; slightly broader than neck; distinct ridge between top and side of head; tail long; eyes large with round pupil; tail fairly long. Dorsum mostly brown; a juvenile from Ujjain was pale-brown, except the vertebral scale rows which are black-edged and forms a narrow chain along the entire back; underside white, yellowish-white or grey. SVL: 650mm. |

Diurnal; terrestrial; arboreal. Found in dry deciduous forests and grasslands. |
